Scrap Academy
With Annie Nguyen
November 11 - 14, 2027
Do you have a scrap bin that’s overflowing, scraps you can’t bear to throw away, or a collection of “too small to use” pieces that you KNOW must have a purpose? Annie gets you. 😂
Welcome to Scrap Academy, where scraps aren’t leftovers—they’re the beginning of something fabulous!
Annie will show you how to organize and think about your scraps by color, size, and purpose, then turn those little bits of fabric into BIG creative possibilities. We’ll explore the difference between truly scrappy and color-based scrappy quilts, look at inspiring examples, and discover how just about ANY quilt block can become a scrap block.
From Log Cabins and Courthouse Steps to Dresdens, stars, strings, crumb quilting, Foundation Paper Piecing, and English Paper Piecing, Annie will have you seeing scrap possibilities everywhere!
And because scraps don’t have to become quilts, we’ll also play with fun projects like washi tape, placemats, key rings, vase covers, adding-machine-tape projects, and Mod Podge ornaments. 🎨
Plus, we’ll talk about the often-overlooked canvas of the quilt: the BACKING! Scrappy backings, pieced backings, leftover blocks, wide backs—you’ll never look at your backing fabric the same way again.
Bring your SCRAPS, scrap batting, and your imagination. Leave with inspiration, ideas, and a whole new appreciation for the glorious little pieces of fabric you just couldn’t throw away. 🌈
Annie’s motto? There’s no such thing as too small. There’s only “not yet used.” 😉
Come join the Scrap Queen at Scrap Academy and let the scrap obsession begin! 👑🧵
